December 30, 2015 – A Beautiful Mess

What will distract you most in life is the picture in your head of how it is supposed to be.”–Unknown

Somewhere around a year and a half ago I entered into a transitional time. I had realized error in my life and was doing everything I knew to correct it. We were camping in Kentucky near a church revival that we were working in and had access to a large wooded area around the campground. One afternoon while praying I wondered down into the woods and found a large lake that few knew existed. I heard sound coming from some of the surrounding cliffs and started hiking toward it. I discovered one of the most beautiful waterfalls I had ever laid eyes on!

The stream was about four feet wide and was pouring over a rock overhang where it dropped completely vertical for about fifteen feet and fell into a crystal clear pool large enough to swim in. The scene was breathtaking! What made it beautiful? Chaos and crisis painted by storms and disruption to life had created this place. Trees were growing crooked on the banks, some had even fallen around it and died. The leaves of Fall salted the ground. Rocks were thrown about where time had loosed them. Life was just happening here in this secret place and it was gorgeous. If you were to focus on any one part you would think it was out of place. Oh, but when the big picture came into focus it was a masterpiece. Just like me. Just like you.
