May 28 – Wedding Day Woes

Professional singer Ruthanna Metzger was asked to sing at the wedding of one of her wealthy friends.  After the wedding was over, she and her husband headed to the reception at Seattle’s Columbia Tower, one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers.  When the elevator reached the top of the executive floor she was met by the maitre d’ who was greeting the guests.

When he searched for her name, it was not recorded in his notebook.  Metzger replied, “There must be some mistake, I am the singer, I just sang for the wedding.”  The maitre d’ led them to the service elevators and told them he had strict orders not to allow anyone in the reception who was not on the list, regardless of who they were.  As they headed back to the garage, Ruthanna realized that in the hectic schedule of trying to perform for the wedding she actually failed to RSVP for the reception.

So many people are just like Ruthanna Metzger.  They will miss the Marriage Supper of the Lamb because they failed to make reservations through salvation. When we stand before Christ to give an account for our lives, it will not matter how well we performed, all that will matter is if our name is recorded in His book.
