There is an Irish legend about the King of Ulster. It was believed that his dynamic and powerful presence was such a threat to his enemies that his appearance alone would cause his opponents to flee from warfare. After a long arduous battle, this mighty king was struck by the opposing army and died. His forces knew they would be utterly defeated if the enemy thought the King of Ulster was dead.
Therefore, his soldiers tied his body to a rock and positioned a spear in his hand so that the opposition would think he was alive. They believed that even the presence of a dead king would bring victory over the enemy.
If the presence of a dead king brought victory to the province of Ulster hundreds of years ago, how much more does the presence of the Living King of kings bring victory into our lives?
Satan will never tremble at our efforts in warfare. It is when we submit ourselves to the Lord and resist the devil that he flees from us. Our strength, our power, and our victory derive from the fact that Jesus Christ overcame death, ascended to a position of honor and glory and forever intercedes on our behalf. He is not a dead king that has to be hoisted up by his soldiers on a rock. He is the Eternal King and the Rock, and the Victor of our spiritual battles. Long live the KING!
Dear Lord:
I bow my heart to the living King of Glory. What assurance and consolation I have in knowing that You are alive and You are seated at the right hand of God. I bless Your name for conquering all of Your enemies. I bless You for giving me the victory! Amen, and Amen.
