“He is rich or poor according to what he is, not according to what he has.” –Henry Ward
I had spent about thirty minutes looking for a particular book at the Christian bookstore. Having checked their inventory, the manager said the computer showed one volume was still in stock. I rechecked the shelf where it was supposed to be and sure enough it was not in its place. I was just about to leave and decided to pick up the book next to where the book was supposed to be; sure enough, there it was! Someone had placed the book I was looking for inside a much larger volume.
I wondered how long that book had been there, overlooked. I thought about how many people had walked right by it without ever knowing it was there? Have you ever felt that way? Covered up by someone else, neglected, unseen, tucked away? Sure, you have. We all know what it is like to be underappreciated from time to time.
I realized something, however, as I began reading the book: It being covered up did not change the content of its pages.
What’s important in life is not how recognized your cover is, but rather how good your content is once you are discovered.
