“Faith tells me that no matter what lies ahead of me, God is already there.” –Unknown
In II Chronicles 20, heathen nations banded together to raze the kingdom of Judah. Faced with a grim chance of survival, King Jehoshaphat desperately sought the wisdom of God. God’s answer: do absolutely nothing. “Set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD.”
By Jehoshaphat’s reaction, you would have thought the enemy had already been defeated; for the next day, when Judah had positioned themselves, King Jehoshaphat appointed singers to sing praises to God. I certainly don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Bible notes that AS SOON as they began to sing praises, God wiped out the enemy.
Sometimes the biggest part of overcoming our storms isn’t the weapons we arm ourselves with, so much as the mentality. We can either panic or we can praise; we can either worry or we can worship. Jehoshaphat’s heart had already found peace, even with an enemy in sight, because for Jehoshaphat, it wasn’t what was over the ridge that mattered, anymore – but Who was on high.
