Connected to Christ

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”              –Colossians 3:2

In his commentary on Ephesians, author Kent Hughes tells the true story of a school fire that took place in Itasca, Texas just before World War II.  The tragedy took the lives of 263 school children. When the war ended, the town and the school began to rebuild and grow.  They built a new facility which featured an innovative and impressive sprinkler system known as “the finest in the world.”

People from all over the country came to see the grand technology behind this system. Honor students were granted the privilege of leading such tours. The town grew, the population grew, and eventually they had to build a new wing onto the school. When the time came to begin construction on the new addition they realized the sprinkler system had never been connected. For seven years, they had this system in place, but it would have been useless had they needed it in a desperate hour.

There are countless souls that have never been connected to the Living Water. They are in the right place, they are positioned for the right causes, but they have never been connected to the right source.  The eternal tragedy of their circumstance is that a fire is waiting.  One which cannot be quenched. If you have never “connected” to Christ, turn to Him today and be saved from the wrath to come.
