“You are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequences of your choice.” –Unknown

4 If you do not choose Jesus Christ, however, then what you are choosing is far worse than death. You are choosing an eternal damnation totally separated from Christ.  You are choosing a very real Hell where the worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched (Mark 9:44).  A place where you will be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory     I recently saw a church sign that read, “You have two eternal choices: Jesus Christ or Death.”  I understand the thought behind that statement but it really struck me as wrong and very misleading!  It was correct that we have two eternal choices; and we know that Jesus Christ is one of those choices.  But what was wrong is that we don’t get to choose whether or not we will face death.  Hebrews 9:27 says that it is appointed unto men once to die.  We will all die, even those who have chosen to follow Jesus Christ!

If you do not choose Jesus Christ, however, then what you are choosing is far worse than death. You are choosing an eternal damnation totally separated from Christ.  You are choosing a very real Hell where the worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched (Mark 9:44).  A place where you will be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power (2 Thessalonians 1:9).  If you choose Jesus Christ, then you are choosing an eternity in Heaven. You are choosing a very real place where there is no pain, no sickness, no sorrow. You are choosing an eternity in the presence of your Savior.

The church sign was right that we have two choices, but very wrong about what those two choices are. It should have read, “You have two eternal choices: Jesus Christ or Hell.”  Which choice have you made?
