“The best portion of a good man’s life are his little, unnamed, unremembered acts of kindness.” –William Woodsworth
Allow me to ask a probing question: How do you love Jesus? Notice, I did not ask whether you loved Jesus, but rather, how do you love Him? The ultimate expression of our love to Christ is manifested through obedience. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). It’s possible to say we love Christ, but not to the extent of surrender. How do you love Him?
Do you Love Selectively? Some people love Him to the point of accepting Christ as Savior, but want no part of surrendering their lives to Him as Lord. Such a love is not indicative of authentic salvation.
Do you Love Selfishly? Do you love Him because of what He gives you? The relationship that many have with Christ is one-sided. They love Him because of His gifts, His blessings; but if you take those things away, they would have difficulty carrying their cross.
Do you Love Secretly? Some only want to love Christ when there is no pressure. Like Simon Peter, they are fearful of what the crowd will say so they confess Him privately, but deny Him in public.
Do you Love Sacrificially? This is what Christ had in mind when He said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Those who truly love Christ will yield their lives to Him as servants and do what He says.
