Creation and Salvation

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world,” –Ephesians 1:4

There the book, A Heart for God, author and theologian Sinclair Ferguson pens down these words, “Had the universe never come into existence, His glory would have been complete; had man never been created, His fellowship would have been sublimely joyful. But out of His desire to create creatures He could dignify and bless, He made the universe and set mankind in it. And then entered into fellowship and friendship with man.”

God would still be God had God never created man. God would still be God had He never set forth the first beam of light. His glory, His power, His majesty, His trinity, His holiness is immutable and unchanging. Yet, in His providential desire to have fellowship with man, He not only created us, He created us knowing the price it would take to have fellowship with us.

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, before the foundation of the world, devised the plan and provided the means for this glorious union with mankind.  Inconceivable to human thought, God, not once thought to know us apart from the atoning sacrifice of His Son. What love, therefore is displayed, not just in the death of the Son of God, but also in the creation of the sons of Adam. For in creation God set in motion the design for holy fellowship with man.
