March 18 – Big Blessings, Small Packages

Big Blessings, Small Packages

When we consider the blessings of God we often think of the big-ticket items.  Our home, our vehicles, our clothes, our food, our friendships…these all seem to merit our praise to the heavenly Father.  But consider how difficult life would be without the little things. When was the last time you thanked God for your toothbrush?  How about light bulbs? Or toilet paper?  That may sound ridiculous at first, but without these “miniature” blessings we would be extremely inconvenienced.

Today I am thankful for running water, cushions on my couch, highlighters and pens, socks without holes, brooms and mops.

Today I give Him praise for headphones, Advil, books, magazines, and the ability to read.  I glory in the daily benefits of being able to see, able to hear, able to smell, and able to taste food, whether it is good or bad.

Today I offer praise for my lawnmower, my washing machine, my stove, my hairdryer, and my fireplace.  What a blessing it is to have a watch, a wallet, and a window to see the sun rise and set.

Every good and perfect gift comes from above.  Too often we walk right by all the blessings without recognizing His goodness.  Today I am thankful for all the big stuff, but I am equally appreciative for the little things.
