November 28 – Wiping Away the Tears

God is acquainted with our tears. From the first cries of a newborn baby to the sorrowful lamentations at a graveside, we experience tears because we live in a cosmos that has gone bad. The psalmist said, “Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?” (Psalm 56:8) Again, in Psalm 116:8, God “delivers us from our tears.”

Such verses give light to the glorious day when we will experience a tearless world.  Revelation 21:4 says, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

I love the fact that God Himself will wipe away the tears.  Not an angel, not a prophet, not an elder, not an apostle.  God will.  God will because God has seen those tears.  In the midnight hours when no one else saw the desperate cries of desperate situations, God was there.  When no one else was looking, when no one else cared, God was there.  What a glorious moment when the Creator of the world, the Redeemer of humanity takes away, forever, the hurt and pain from the sons of Adam.
