“Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy” – Hebrews 4:16

As a pastor, I have the unique privilege of access.  There are certain situations and scenarios that allow me entrance simply because of my position.  As a pastor, I am allowed into the ICU room when others are not permitted.  As a pastor, I have the privilege of being with family during personal times of funeral visitation.  By position alone I am given the right of entry.  Those who grant me access have no way of knowing if I am a good pastor or a bad pastor.  Again, I am admitted by position alone.

Believers have a similar privilege.  Because of our position in Christ, we can gain access into the presence of God.  We can boldly and righteously come before Holy God through our union in Christ.  Our position in Him uniquely qualifies us for entry.

Access before God isn’t determined by our goodness or worth.  It is not allotted by intellect, ability, education, or assets.  It is granted by position. As a believer, you can come before the Lord at any given time on any particular matter.  The writer of Hebrews said, “Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Such boldness is only warranted by a relationship; and that relationship with Christ grants access.
