“It was character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action, and discipline that enabled us to follow through” – Zig Ziglar
We all set goals for different things: weight loss, personal growth, spiritual development, job advancement, etc. One of my favorite things to do is create a list of certain objectives for my family, my church, my ministry, and my life in general. I have discovered something in doing this: setting goals is easy- following through, now that’s a different story.
Have you ever wondered why some people fail and some people succeed concerning their goals? The difference can be found in two words: interest and commitment. Most people are interested in losing weight or eating healthier; but they lack the commitment and passion to stay on course. Over time those things we initially desired lose their appeal. We become side-tracked with other “interests” and before you know it, the objective on our piece of paper is just meaningless ink.
Ask yourself a question concerning your goals- “Am I committed to this or am I only interested?” If you are only interested it will not take much to sway your schedule or hinder your growth; but if you are passionately committed you will be able to run the marathon, read the book, drop the pounds, get the promotion, or anything else you set your mind to. Why not write down a few goals today and stay committed until you have achieved what you have set out to do?
