“What we perceive as a disadvantage or weakness is actually God’s enablement for ministry.” –Kenneth Kuykendall

When Amy Carmichael was a little girl she oftentimes prayed that God would change the color of her eyes.  All of her friends had blue eyes and she felt a little different being the only girl in her circle of friends whose eyes were brown.
On one occasion she prayed earnestly through the night believing when she woke up she would see the day with different color eyes.  When the day dawned her eyes were still brown.
Though God didn’t change the color of her eyes, He did do something else.  He called her to be a missionary to India where she would rescue children from prostitution in Hindu temples.  During her ministry she would stain her skin, change her hair, and dress in the clothes of that culture to safeguard her identity. She eventually realized that her brown eyes were actually a gift from God.  Had she been given blue eyes, she would have been easily recognized as an outsider in the Indian culture.
What we perceive as a disadvantage or a weakness is actually God’s enablement for ministry.  Whatever He has created you to be, He has done so with His glory in mind.
