The world needs to see God doing things only God can do instead of man doing things others can do” –Kenneth Kuykendall

Christ gave His disciples some last-minute instructions before His ascension to Glory. He told them to wait in Jerusalem until the arrival of the Holy Spirit. He said, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” (Acts 1:8). There is one very important word the church needs to familiarize itself with once again: after. The power, ability, and authority of the first-century disciples depended solely upon the effect of the Holy Spirit; without Him they could do nothing.

The world needs to see God doing things only God can do instead of man doing things others can do. A.W. Tozer said, “No one dare be so rash as to seek to do impossible things unless he has first been empowered by the God of the impossible.” We are trying to accomplish divine acts without the support of the Divine Spirit.

Jesus was clear: preaching, teaching, witnessing, evangelization, church-planting, missionary endeavors, and the like were to be done AFTER the Holy Spirit came. When we work in the energy of the flesh, we not only become frustrated, tired, and weary, but we accomplish nothing of eternal significance. They were found praying before His arrival, the modern-day church should follow their practice.
