“The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become.” –Henry Martyn
My little girl has a heart that is bigger than she is. Whether it’s a neglected doll at a thrift store or a stray animal, she can’t help but love it. Just yesterday I watched her tenderly care for a lightning bug that she found could no longer fly. With the face of a five year old and the soul of a world changer she said, “I love him, daddy, and I want to help him get better.”
This world we live in is a disparaging place. The constant problems can often lead a man to become self absorbed in survival mode. We can forget the hope we carry. On the ride home last night with my little hero and her injured bug I said, “Hadli, every time you find something broken and you try to fix it you make the world a better place.”
If we can open ourselves up to feel pain that isn’t ours we can make a difference in that pain. If we can soften our hearts enough to feel the needs that aren’t ours we can become missionaries to those needs. If we can just care enough to act, I believe you and I could change the world.
