“Those who have difficulty getting along with others tend to have a hard time getting along with God.” –Kenneth Kuykendall
The prophet Ezekiel went down to the valley to watch God resurrect a great army of dry, dead bones. Those bones represented the nation of Israel as they marched back into Zion out of captivity.
In the New Testament, the apostle Paul likened the church of Jesus Christ as a body which represents the full functionality of His followers.
Both of these pictures teach us what it means to live and operate in unity and harmony one with another. Israel’s army had many soldiers. Christ’s Body has many members. Both groups have to work together for an ultimate purpose and end.
In his book, True Community, Jerry Bridges said, “Biblical community goes much deeper than sharing common goals, though it ultimately involves that. Biblical community is first of all the sharing of the common life in Christ.” Those who have difficulty getting along with others tend to have a hard time getting along with God. The “togetherness” of the Body not only honors God, but it gives us the power to get things done we could never do by ourselves.
