“Kindness is the gateway to the heart” –Kenneth Kuykendall
Three delicatessens opened in the same area simultaneously. Knowing that the competition would be fierce, the owners placed large advertisements in the windows of their stores.
The first one read, “We have the best sandwiches in the world!”
Not wanting to be outdone, the second owner put up a sign that read, “We have the tastiest sandwiches in the universe!”
The third fellow wondered how he could outdo those two ridiculous claims. So he simply put up a sign that read, “We are the nicest in the neighborhood.” His store put the other two out of business within a month’s time.
At the end of the day, people want to be treated kindly. Charles Buxton contends, “You have not fulfilled every duty, unless you have fulfilled that of being pleasant.” Kindness is a biblical attribute; a major selling point for Christianity…or at least it should be.
The world is unlikely to embrace the Good News of Christ through the sour and acidic lips of an unkind person. A person may not remember or even like your message, but they will always remember the fashion in which you delivered it. You are not selling bologna sandwiches; you are offering humanity the bread of life. Deliver it in a godly manner. Kindness is the gateway to the heart.
