“The world asks what does a man own. Christ asks how does he use it?” –Andrew Murray
One day a pig was lamenting to a cow about how unpopular he was. He said to the cow, “I just don’t get it, people around here are always talking about how sweet and nice you are, with your giving of milk and cream.” He went on to say, “But no one ever says anything about me. I give more than you ever will. I give them bacon, and ham, and barbeque…I give them my all. Why do people seem to like you more?”
The cow thought for a minute and said, “Maybe it’s because I give while I’m still living.”
Some people want to hoard up their treasures only to be allocated once they are dead and gone. In doing so, they miss out on the joy of giving while living.
Mark Batterson said, “I cannot prove this quantitatively, but I know it is true: The more you give away the more you enjoy what you have.” How sad it would be to stockpile mounds of wealth and never see how those possessions could benefit others.
Don’t wait to share your life with others after your demise. An old Indian proverb says, “When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a manner that when you die the world cries and you rejoice.” Touch lives now. Give while you live!
