“It’s the quiet life of obedience that will earn a hearing”– Steve Farrar

A young child in Sunday School class was writing out Psalm 37:23 for his teacher, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he delighteth in his way.”  As the teacher reviewed the verse she noticed a misspelled word in the passage.  The student wrote, “The STOPS of a good man are ordered by the Lord…”  The teacher said, “Bobby, do you know that you misspelled STEPS?”  Bobby replied, “No ma’am, I am ready for this class to STOP so that I can STEP somewhere else.”

Walking with God means knowing when and where to step, but it also means knowing when and where to stop. Too often we are traveling so quickly down the road of life that we run through spiritual red-lights and stop signs.  We have no time to pause, reflect, relax, and renew our strength.

The Lord understood the benefits of stopping.  Oftentimes He would dismiss Himself from the multitude, ascend into a mountain, and spend some time with His Heavenly Father.  If Jesus needed those down times, we do as well.  As you walk with the Lord today, get a sense of His presence.  If He instructs you to take a step, take it; if He instructs you to make a stop, make it.
