December 22, 2013- There’s a Way in the Manger

Sampaloc “Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, buy cheap accutane that ye through His poverty might be rich”– The Apostle Paul

One of the signs pointing the shepherds to the baby Jesus was that Christ would be lying in a manger.  In essence, finding the manger meant finding the Messiah.  It seems odd that the Savior of the Word, the King of the Jews, the incarnate God would find His lodging in such an unusual place.  What did the manger represent if indeed it was a sign?

1. The Isolation of Manger.  The fact that Jesus was lying in a manger revealed there was no room for Him in the inn.  It was a sign of His rejection.  He was rejected by the innkeeper, His countrymen, His family, and eventually the world.  Men are still rejecting Him today.

2. The Identification of Manger. The fact that He was born in a manger reveals His identity with the poor and downtrodden.  He understands our struggles.  He became poor so that He could be our Great High Priest.

3. The Insinuation of the Manger.  The manger was used as a place for lambs to rest.  Christ being born in the manger was no accident.  Neither was it an accident that He was wrapped in swaddling clothes (grave clothes).  The Lamb of God was born to die ultimately proving one fundamental truth: There’s a Way in the Manger!
